Fiber Art Exhibition & Film

September 8 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

The Salida Fiber Festival is thrilled to present its 8th Fiber Art Exhibition, open to fiber artists residing within 50 miles of Salida or 2023 festival vendors.  The exhibition, which will open during the weekend of the Festival (Sept. 8-11) and continue throughout month, will be mounted in the Paquette Gallery and will feature original designs in all forms of fiber art and made through various fiber techniques, including knitting, weaving, sewing, crocheting, beading, dyeing, and stitching.

Enjoy a reception, meet some of the artists and cast your vote for audience favorites! Stay for a documentary film The Nettle Dress immediately following the reception.

Open to the public.

After the death of his beloved wife, textile artist Allan Brown embarks on a seven-year endeavor to weave a hand-spun dress from stinging nettles foraged in the woods surrounding his home. This is “hedgerow couture,” the greenest of slow fashion and also his medicine. It is how he survives the death of his wife and finds a beautiful way to honor her. A modern-day fairy tale and hymn to the healing power of nature and slow craft. Film is Not Rated.
