We invite you to stop by the SteamPlant to view a collection of local artists at this month’s exhibit, Salida Goes Surreal.

The Paquette Gallery is open limited hours for public viewing of the current exhibition installed for the month of December. Public health guidelines will be in place for entering the gallery and no more than six (6) persons will be admitted at one time for both the safety and viewing-pleasure of the exhibit. Most items in the gallery are for purchase.

The SteamPlant offers art exhibitions displayed in the Paquette Gallery for viewing and purchase in our online store.

About the Show

“Salida Goes Surreal” is an annual celebration for local artists and non-artists to tap into their imagination to envision a reality beyond the current situation.

Surrealism is an artistic movement started in Europe in the aftermath of World War I and the 1918 pandemic.

The Surrealists sought  to “free mankind from the shackles of conscious logic and reason which had only led to war and domination.”*  Emphasizing the power of personal imagination, Surrealists explored the workings of the mind, and championed the irrational, the poetic and the revolutionary.

We are thrilled with the response to the first Salida Goes Surreal exhibition. 28 artists submitted pieces to the that will be held at the Steam Plant through the month of December 2020.

The show may be viewed on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 11AM to 3PM Limit six people at a time. Masks required.

For more information call the SteamPlant 530-0933 or email salidagoessurreal@gmail.com
