2019 ADA Coordinator Training

Based on the 2010 Department of Justice ADA regulations, we will be conducting a training course for members. This course will provide an overview of the regulation changes, effective dates, provisions for newly designed and constructed or altered facilities, and will discuss the scope of technical provisions.
The Department of Justice recommends that all entities, regardless of size, have an ADA Coordinator or designated liaison. This two-part series will provide valuable insight on the following aspects:
- Planning and Coordinating Overall Compliance Efforts
- Developing and Implementing a Grievance Procedure
- Coordinating a Self-Evaluation
- Transition Plans
- Employer Responsibilities
- Guidance for Reasonable Accommodations, Effective Communication, Essential Job Functions, and Service Animals
- Safety Concerns
- Documentation of Disability
- Non-Discriminatory Hiring Practices

Sarah Garcia is the Training Facilitator for The Rocky Mountain ADA Center (RMADAC). RMADAC serves a six-state service area: Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota by providing free technical support and training on the Americans with Disabilities Act. She educates and motivates individuals, businesses, and organizations about their rights and responsibilities under the ADA and other disability laws. Sarah has a bachelor’s degree in English and Psychology and a Master’s in Education from Truman State University. Promoting inclusion, diversity, equity and access are the foundation of her professional work.
