November 2016 in the Paquette Gallery

“Of the Earth: Gratitude” by Gail Frasier and Lynne Milliken

The Salida SteamPlant hosted a duo show by Colorado artists Gail Frasier and Lynne Milliken in the Paquette Gallery, November 2 through November 30, 2016.

Milliken and Frasier spoke at the Creative Mixer 5:30 – 7 pm on Thursday, November 10 and welcomed the public at a reception in the Paquette Gallery on Saturday, November 12, 5-7 pm.

In their exhibit, “Of The Earth: Gratitude,” Milliken’s oil paintings and Frasier’s clay vessels interpret earth’s gifts, from majestic skies and rolling waters, to those tiny treasures that often go unnoticed.

Both artists grew up in rural communities then spent years in the mountains, where earth, water, and weather are major factors. After years of individual artistic pursuits, these friends came upon a quote by actress Julia Roberts: “The Earth does not need us; we need the Earth,” which gave birth to their artistic collaboration.

Frasier and Milliken are looking forward to sharing their artistic and environmental journey with this mountain community.
