2020 marks the 250th anniversary of iconic composer Ludwig van Beethoven’s birth, and the Colorado Symphony embarks on a year-long celebration, performing over two dozen concerts and events across the state of Colorado.

About Beethoven 2020: The full orchestra and small ensembles will feature some of Beethoven’s greatest works, including Missa Solemnis, Violin Concerto, Symphony No. 3 “Eroica,” Symphony No. 9, and many more. Beethoven 2020 is sponsored in part by the Colorado State University System.

Creative Mixer

The Salida Council for the Arts (SFTA) hosts a monthly Creative Mixer on the 2nd Thursday of every month in the Paquette Gallery. Artists of all genres are welcome to come mix and mingle and meet this month’s featured artist from the region and working in fiber arts. The Council provides tasty hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar is open for business.

Salida Soup

Salida Soup is a monthly community-based potluck where participants, through this microgranting dinner, assist creative projects in the Arkansas River Valley. A potluck item and a $5 donation is all it takes to be eligible to vote on the evening’s presentations. Calliope! will have two performances of the show at the SteamPlant Theater. “Airabella, the Dancing Snowflake” was written by Jack Lines and first performed in 2005. It is the story of a snowflake who is obligated to teach everyone in the kingdom to dance, including a scary Yeti. There are penguins, ermines, winds, an otter, an eagle and a queen.
