Women Who Care meet quarterly to select local community charities to support by pooling donations ($100 each woman each quarter) to give with impact. Where there is need, the organization wants to help. All women in Chaffee County (either part-time or full-time) are invited to join.

Creative Mixer

The Salida Council for the Arts (SFTA) hosts a monthly Creative Mixer on the 2nd Thursday of every month in the Paquette Gallery. Artists of all genres are welcome to come mix and mingle and meet this month’s featured artist from the region and working in fiber arts. The Council provides tasty hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar is open for business.

Beavers: Their Landscapes, Our Future

Ben Goldfarb, an Award-Winning Environmental Journalist, reveals in this talk that our modern idea of what a healthy landscape looks like and how it functions is wrong, distorted by the fur trade that once trapped out millions of beavers from North America’s lakes and rivers. FILM: Rembrandt from the National Gallery & Rijksmuseum

“Letters To Doris” Philanthropic Presentation & Workshop

This event comes to Salida as part of a series hosted around the country by the Letters Foundation. It focuses on Doris Buffet (sister to Warren Buffet) and her philanthropic work as told from the point of view of individuals who have received a grant from the Letters Foundation. Join us in welcoming Letters Foundation Executive Director Amy Kingman as well as Letters to Doris co-writers Anita Mumm (a Salida resident) and Stuart Horowitz as they share their experiences behind this project. On Monday at the Scout Hut, the public is invited to attend a “Learning to Give” Community Brunch and learn about philanthropy in your home community.

Salida Soup

Salida Soup is a monthly community-based potluck where participants, through this microgranting dinner, assist a variety of projects in the Upper Arkansas River Valley.

Join us each month for the evolution of fundraising. Bring a potluck item and a $5 donation to be eligible to vote on the evening’s presentations. As a diner, you will hear five-minute pitches from community members who need funding for projects that are beneficial to the community. Enjoy food, drink, art and music, then choose the winning proposal to receive the evenings donations.

The Boys & Girls Club of Chaffee County will be hosting their annual spring fundraiser at the SteamPlant and will feature casino games, live music and dancing, door prizes, tasty treats from Kalamatapit, libations and a program featuring a live auction and Fund­-A­-Need. This year’s party theme is the 1880’s Wild West Saloon, so western attire is encouraged and prizes will be awarded for the best costume/attire.

Songs OnScreen is happy to bring you the much-lauded film COLD WAR.
