April 11 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pmFree
On the second Thursday of each month, the Salida Council for the Arts presents the Creative Mixer from 5:30 to 7:00 pm in the SteamPlant’s Paquette Gallery. Artists working in all genres are encouraged to attend and meet like-minded people, to share influences and news, to soak up fresh ideas, and to be inspired by the energy that makes Salida a center of support and expression.
Each mixer begins at 5:30pm in the Paquette Gallery, where we are treated to a visual feast of the current artwork on display in the Paquette Gallery. The exhibiting artist briefly talks about their work, their need to express, and their unique perspective.
Meet this months featured artist, Joe Beakey, and enjoy his artwork in person!
While guests chat and view the current exhibition, live music plays; musicians are hired to share their passions and news of their upcoming gigs. We’ve enjoyed banjo tunes, cello, classic country vocals, jazz guitar, and classical flute.
Everyone is always invited. The council provides tasty hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar is open for business. Sometimes the connections seeded at the Creative Mixer have led to some incredible collaborative works and new friendships!
Joe Beakey Photographer
As a photographer I focus on unusual angles and lighting for subjects that are often photographed. I strive to take landscape photographs that are unique but have beauty and color to them. As for my black and whites I try to have intense lines and shadows making a somewhat bold look.
All my photos are limited editions of ten with no second editions, thus making them more valuable to the buyer.
All my photographs are printed using the highest quality archival paper/canvas and inks and professionally framed or gallery wrapped.
My photographs have been juried into Regional and National shows by jurors; Ramone Kelly, Bob Coonts, Betty Carr, Dennis Rhoads, Kevin Weckbach, Scott Freeman, Desmond O’Hagan, Jeanne MacKenzie, Gary Huber, Eli Vega, Virginia Unseld, Kelly Donavon, Tracy Stuckey, Don Weller and Phil Starke and include such shows as Estes Park Lines into Shapes, Art Assoc. of Northern Colorado, National Greeley Art Exhibition, Sagebrush National in Wyoming, Colorado Artist Guild, Louisville Art Association National Photography Show, Alpine Artist Holiday in Ouray CO., Sunny Vista in Colorado Springs CO, RSVP Cheyenne WY. and The Western Spirit Art Show And Sale in Cheyenne Wyoming.
