January 9 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
On the second Thursday of each month, the Salida Council for the Arts presents the Creative Mixer from 5:30 to 7:00 pm in the SteamPlant’s Paquette Gallery. Artists working in all genres are encouraged to attend and meet like-minded people, to share influences and news, to soak up fresh ideas, and to be inspired by the energy that makes Salida a center of support and expression.
Each mixer begins at 5:30pm in the Paquette Gallery, where we are treated to a visual feast of the current artwork on display in the Paquette Gallery. The exhibiting artist briefly talks about their work, their need to express, and their unique perspective.
See the works of this months featured artist, Kathy Davidoff, and enjoy her artwork in person!
While guests chat and view the current exhibition, live music plays; musicians are hired to share their passions and news of their upcoming gigs. We’ve enjoyed banjo tunes, cello, classic country vocals, jazz guitar, and classical flute.
Everyone is always invited. The council provides tasty hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar is open for business. Sometimes the connections seeded at the Creative Mixer have led to some incredible collaborative works and new friendships!
About the Show
Wildlife – A closeup view. A showcase of the amazing birds/animals that we are surrounded by. The show will consist of about 35 photographs on metal or framed, chosen to give the viewers an opportunity to really see some animals up close. With only a few exceptions, the animals/birds can be found here in the Salida area. My purpose in the show is to give those viewers an appreciation for those wonderful creatures we are surrounded by and possibly instill a sense to slow down in life and enjoy what is around us.
