It is also a great opportunity to meet fellow Humanists, make new friends, and learn about new ideas. All are welcome!

Sunday Science meets on the first Sunday of the month, from 10:00am to noon.

This Month: More Amazing Local Geology

At our March Sunday Science program, local geologist Cindy Williams will continue her popular series explaining how local landscapes have been shaped by some amazing geologic events. The program will start with a brief geologic history of the Chaffee County area. With that history as a framework, we will take a virtual tour of landmarks across the county and beyond. What amazing geologic tale connects the “Castles” and Triad Ridge near Trout Creek pass, Buffalo Peaks, Mt Shavano and Mt Princeton? Is it true that Chaffee County was once the home of a massive volcano? Come learn the answers!

Speaker Bio’s:

Cindy Williams is board chair for the Central Colorado Conservancy and co-lead of Envision Chaffee County. Williams has worked for 30 years in the international mining industry. She served as Vice President of Solutions and Innovation and Vice President of Businesses Opportunity Creation at Newmont Mining, the world’s largest gold mining company. She has managed global exploration, innovation, energy and technical services functions, working in 13 countries. Cindy has Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Economic Geology from Colorado State University.
