CDOT Public Meeting: F Street & 291 Expansion
July 19, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
From The Mountain Mail:
The Colorado Department of Transportation and Technology Constructors Incorporated (TCI) will host a community meeting to explain planned construction on two Salida intersections from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Salida SteamPlant annex.
Construction will take place on the intersections at U.S. 50/CR 111 and First and F streets to “improve the safety and efficiency for all users and to upgrade the infrastructure,” according to a CDOT press release.
CDOT officials said U.S. 50 and CR 111 improvements include full replacement of the existing span wire signal with permanent poles and mast arms, connecting existing sidewalks/trails and establishing crossings for future sidewalk/trail extensions. The work is scheduled to take place in August.
The First Street (Colo. 291) and F Street intersection will undergo a full reconstruction with concrete signal replacement, replacement of a city waterline and an asphalt overlay of First Street extending one block from the intersection. The work will not begin until after Labor Day to avoid peak summer traffic.
Both locations will include improvements for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
CDOT officials encourage businesses and community members to attend the meeting to learn more about the project impacts and to sign up for construction notifications.
They warn that pedestrians and drivers should expect travel impacts throughout the construction project at both locations. Impacts for First and F streets will be more extensive due to the project’s scope and the constrained space. Specific impacts will be announced closer to the start of construction and will be updated weekly.
The public may sign up for updates at the community meeting or by contacting the project hotline phone number 970-946-1935 and/or email address at email@example.com.
