Inviting all artists, musicians, and community members to come out and celebrate the Virgo Birthday – Boddy Jam at the SteamPlant on September 7 from 6-10 pm. Doors open at 5:30 pm. This event is free and open to all.
Every year, local musician, artist, historic preservationist, and friend, William Boddy held a jam session at the SteamPlant for all his musician friends to celebrate music, friendship and all Virgo Birthdays. William passed away suddenly in 2015 and this event is being held to honor the Boddy Spirit of friendship, music, art, learning, sharing, caring, and fun.
Greg Walter from Wanderlust Road is coordinating the musician schedule and will be the MC this year. He was a band member with William in Caravan X.
The format will be similar to that of William’s birthday jam sessions: at 6 pm, musicians will begin sitting in and throughout the evening the band on stage will morph as musicians step down and others step up. Musicians include Blue Recluse, TJ Hittle, Brian Rill, Mohan, Chris Nasca, Zippy, GoiNomadic, Wanderlust Road with Steve Smalzel, the Velvet Riff, and more!
Participate as a Musician
This year’s event is not an open mic; those wanting to participate should contact Greg at firstname.lastname@example.org or 719-539-0420.
This will be a fun, informal party with everyone invited to share in the celebration. A cash bar and Crossroads Cafe food truck will be available.
We hope you can attend and bring your own musical fun, some dancing shoes, and a big happy community smile.
Please also come prepared to give generously for amazing donated items at the Silent Auction! All proceeds will benefit the Salida Council for the Arts’ William Boddy Passion to Learn Scholarship.
About the Scholarship:
In an effort to memorialize the contribution William Boddy made to the community of Salida, the Salida Council for the Arts, through community contributions, has created the William Boddy Passion to Learn Scholarship.
Reflecting William’s desire to share his many skills and talents, the SCTA selection committee will bi-annually award these scholarships to worthy artists and/or craftspeople who also desire to teach their unique expression in art, music, drama or restoration via classes or workshops for the Salida community.
Our mission is to share with as many people as possible to spark interest in artist endeavors, life changing careers or personal enrichment. We wish to tap into the rich creative spirit of Salida and the surrounding area.
Special thanks to: Mike’s Garage, Su Casa Sleep Shop, Sellars Project Space, The Book Haven, Amica’s, TJ Hittle Landscape Architects, and Eye Candy for their annual support to this scholarship program.
