Expressions of Light and Mood
My style of painting is characterized by a loose, semi-abstract style focusing on shapes intending to lead the eye through a composition. I attempt to communicate a feeling about what I observe, rather than depicting an image as it is. Expression is why I paint. My paintings should evoke some sort of memory and/or emotion. As humans, we reflect and give meaning to things we perceive. Sometime the meaning of something is in the feeling of it— like relating to poetry.
The art journey is a never ending process of learning. Every creation leads to insights, new ideas and more curiosity. As long as I am curious, paint, brush, and surface will take me to new places. My works are created outdoors and in the studio. I work from real life, photographs, and from pure imagination. Above all, light and mood drive the focus of my paintings and drawings.
